A talent show like no other!

Open Mic UK is searching for the most talented performers in the country and our national music competition invites acts of any style or genre. Acts can perform either covers or original material.[/su_column][/su_row]

Why Open Mic UK is different from other talent shows

Our goals align with yours

For most televised talent shows, the agenda of the producers is to ensure high television viewing figures. Therefore, these talent shows are judged accordingly, focusing on artists that will entertain the public and bring in the viewers.

While these television talent shows have worked well for some acts, many are performing in front of a huge audience before they are ready to be seen.

In contrast, Open Mic UK is not televised and our judging process is designed to bring only the best acts into the final. These artists get the opportunity to perform in front of music industry decision makers including record label A&R, artist managers and talent scouts. Therefore, it is in the interest of the judges that only the best acts rise to the top of the competition.

Perform your way

Unlike some talent shows, we don’t dictate what you sing or how you perform. This gives you the room to be creative and for our judges to see who you are as an artist and easily identify the most talented and innovative performers.[/su_column]

It’s not all about winning

While winning the competition is a good indicator of a potential recording artist, some artists in the competition may not be ready to shine. However, the judges are looking for talent and may spot a diamond in the rough; a record label or artist manager might see something in you even if you didn’t win.[/su_column]

If at first you don’t succeed…

It’s not like you only have one shot. We recommend that, if you don’t get through to the end of the competition, you should continue to develop yourself, practice and hone your skills and come back again the following year.[/su_column][/su_row]

We offer professional feedback and constructive criticism

It is in our interest to help artists to develop. Therefore, the judges offer detailed feedback to each act and point them towards resources that will help them improve. This alone is a valuable reason to enter the competition.[/su_column]
