Amy Ridley - It is always difficult to open the show and you did well to control pace, sing with confidence and demonstrate a secure vocal. Not sure the guitar accompaniment was as good as the vocal delivery – consider a musical support, click here for advice on finding musicians to work with. Don't forget to sing through a smile!
Rebecca Richardson - This was quite a serious performance Rebecca, but at the same time highly communicative with body language and facial expressions painting the words effectively. You gave it your all and this helped to elevate the delivery. If anything there was an element of trying too hard – try to relax in presentation to make it more natural. This will come will more stage experience.
Natalie Batey - Really liked the vocals, good dynamics shaping and use of rhythm and phrasing. A very refreshing performance, very warming – you have a lovely voice Natalie. Do try to perform with a greater sense of enjoyment though, click here for more on stage performance tips for singers. Bags of potential here though!
Sam Clarke - This was the best male act of the day so far! In particularly because of the strength of your head voice, but also because you come across as a very likeable person on stage. Try to develop your confidence even further and take advantage of a bigger stage, click here for advice on how to overcome the nerves.
Kyle Rawson - The chorus was much more fluent and assured, giving an insight into your true ability. You now need to build on your strong vocal and lovely tone and develop a wider sense of communication and performance, click here for more on stage performance tips for singers. We weren’t sure about the quality of the backing which was not as good as the vocals, and there was a tentativeness which detracted overall.
Two Tones - Beautiful harmonies, material works for you and overall this was accomplished with great blending. Really like the image too. You might need something a little more commercial to really compete with the stronger acts, but definitely something there!
Lauryn Ellis - Very pretty, loveable stage presence and you sing with colour Lauryn, presenting yourself stylistically and commercially. Unfortunately, diction was not always absolutely clear, and there were a number of less certain moments, more notably in high register, click here for more on singing diction. This might have been as a result of nerves which were evident today, click here for advice on how to overcome the nerves.
Toby Burton - Another strong male act in this show! Very cute, lovely smile, great guitar playing with consistent and full/warm tone. Not sure about the image though – this will need some work, click here for advice on music synergy and image. However in the words of one judge ‘I’d buy a ticket to see him play all day long’. Well done!
Karl Herbert - Your guitar playing added character to your performance, and you sang with shape and understanding of structure and phrasing. The biggest thing to work on now is to try to relax and reduce tempo in places. Sometimes less is more. You became a bit too intense affecting guitar tone, balance with vocal and overall control. Something there though, so keep developing – hope to see more of you.
Lauren Herbert - Lovely elegant appearance, very mature tone and nice track change. This helped to show off your versatility and ability! We were hoping that the song would develop and really take off, but unfortunately quite do that. This was a shame as there is much more to you which we didn’t see.
Lauren Anderton - Loved the image, you looked beautiful. You have a very mature tone, however your vocals were variable today, some bits were unfortunatley flat. Good expressive performance and nice to see you working the stage, click here for more on stage performance tips for singers. Try and give more eye contact with your audience to connect more with them.
Daisy O’Donnell - Great crowd reaction! You have natural stage presence and a great head voice Daisy. This was a refreshing performance, demonstrating much promise and commercial possibility. You looked good too! Give some thought to the right repertoire and song choice to suit your image and ability, and try to present with more initial confidence, but in the words of one judge ‘with further thought and work, it might just happen to Daisy!’
Sophie Leigh Ash - Strong mature tone, with a natural grit to the voice. Natural stage presence too. There was a musical awareness, good use of rhythms and timing, with dynamic shape in phrasing and figures. Considered use of mic also - it goes to show the benefits of mic control pays off. Watch song choice though – not sure it has done you justice tonight, click here for tips on good audition songs.
Sleeping Secrets - Awesome original, and much to like about these guys. Very energetic and great interaction with the audience. The judges believe you will really entertain the crowd in the final with your energetic edge. As a pair you are a well rounded potentially commercial duo. We are very excited to see how you get on!
Danielle McGreevy - Striking image, lovely appearance, lovely smile, lovely tone! Commercial voice too – there is a future here. Try to develop the authenticity of the communication, would have been good to have seen more of your personality, but still a great performance. Well done!
