Singing tips for beginners: Music industry judges have provided singing tips for beginners for the Pre-Teen category of the TeenStar Camden Regional Final. The industry judges have provided singing tips and feedback on how acts can be successful with their singing to develop their performances.

Maria - Nice smiles, it always sets a good tone and start to the show. A very clever, thought out performance, we love the passion, so keep up with the creativity! Debbie A – You have a lovely sweet tone, you just need to try and relax and truly let go. The backing track didn’t help you as it didn’t flow and felt too slow in places, click here for tips on music backing tracks. Consider singing lessons to help with your tuning, this will better your singing ability. The song has potential but requires more instrumentation and dynamics.
Whitney O’Nicholas – You have really mature vocals for your age – very impressive! Take care when entering on stage, you need to make a strong entrance from the start! A very confident and warm performance.
Freddie Hunter – You have a super tone to your vocal, but watch your tuning in places. It would be great to see you adding a lot more expression and emotion to your performance. Consider filming yourself at home, reviewing and perfecting. Also consider working the dynamics to a big finale, click here for tips on vocal ranges. A very honest performance. We’re not so sure on the song choice, try to choose a song that you can bring your own spin to as an artist.
Lila – You have a sharp and powerful vocal so ensure you use it sparingly. Try to work the dynamics of the song more, click here for tips on vocal dynamics. Performance wise look to work on your expression and conveying the emotion in the song to back up that super vocal. Shreya – Nice tone and song choice, but look to work on your projection to be even better. Click here for tips on voice projection for singers. A good vocal coach can assist to increase your power. Evie B – Your original song made you stand out, you have real potential and showed it off well as an artist. Performance wise commit to expressing it more and while working the stage. Make sure you keep writing! If you're writing at this age, your ability will only better from now on.

Dea – Nice to see you smiling throughout! You have super control and it’s nice to hear a different mix of the old classic. Look to add more emotion and expression to the performance. Eddie Jones – You have great vocals! It’s good to see you take the microphone off the stand and add some emotion - just ensure you don’t overcook it. Click here for advice on performing as a singer. Good look and with a little refinement you will already be the target for a member of a boy band or a similar project. We admire your confidence, you have a great future ahead of you!
Elysia – Great to see your movement around the stage, but try and translate this movement into conveying emotion rather than just swaying, in other words, give it purpose. Hugo – Liked your tone, lovely distinct character but would like to see more power! Try to watch your tuning, and perhaps look to work on your projection which you can work with a vocal coach on. Sienna – Regarding your movement we’d always consider standing with the guitar as it gives you the opportunity to move around the stage. Musically it sounded lovely, however adding more dynamics would have breathed more life into the performance! Click here for tips on vocal ranges.

Aimee Giddens – Lots of potential! Try to get in more performance practise as you can - the more you peform, the more you will learn to relax and better your performance. Aaron Kark – The more you perform the more you will learn to relax, as you looked a little static which affects performance. Click here for tips on how to sing with confidence. Jason – Very theatrical, and lots of personality and you conveyed the emotion well in your eyes. Strong character and vocal! Zoe – You have a silky, distinct vocal well suited to your song choice which had a lot of jazz and swing. You could have considered also adding some scats and making the song your own, but a great performance, well done.
Emi – Good expression to your performance showing you connected well to the song. Niamh – Ensure you don’t stray too far from the microphone as this affects your projection, click here for tips on microphone techniques for singers. Also consider adding more dynamics to the performance to give the performance more colour and depth. Great to see your movement around the stage but try and translate this movement into conveying emotion rather than just swaying, in otherwise give it purpose. Vocally you have a nice tone but look to push your dynamic to give us more range.

Alexia – The song choice didn’t seem to work for you unfortunately, you seemed to be forcing it to keep on top of the projection that the song required - this affected the sound and tone. Consider a song that suits the sweeter tone in your vocal range. You have the ability as it was a fantastic climax with the sustained note and lovely smiles.
Anush Hydros – You looked sharp and very dapper! Take care to maintain control and not be too ‘shouty’ as you have bags of potential. When you force it you lose your tone and vocal shape. Work with a good singing teacher as they will be able to help you manage this.
Livi Khattar – A crisp and sharp vocal control, executed with fine profession. You worked the stage well coming to the front to connect with your audience. Myah G – Lovely presence and very comfortable control! Loved the mash up and what you did with the songs! Take control with your expression as at times you came across very harsh in your face. Click here for advice on performing as a singer.
Jeremiah Emmanuel – Super expression and connection to the song. Liked your stage presence and depth and richness in your vocal. Consider timing your dynamics a little more, but a super performance to finish the show!
