Sparkle - You chose a brave register to open with! Really liked the harmonies and your chosen image worked for you. This was well a prepared, interesting and sustained performance. Also enjoyed the contrast in style and mood too! A strong opener – well done guys.
Fabienne - Great vocal tone, and you gave good attention to phrasing and shape which added individual character. Try to make use of the stage more, and watch plosives when singing into the mic, click here for more on stage performance tips for singers and click here for more on microphone techniques. Good original, keep up the song writing!
Reece - What an amazing performance for such a young act! You were confident, you had stage presence and you were able to communicate at a musical level. Keep gaining the experience and training in singing exercises as you did go out of time in places, but the technical side of things will come. Definitely one to watch….!
Rebecca - Nice personality and a well chosen style which works for you. Great sense of theatre also. Intonation and accuracy of intervallic movement was not quite exact today, but there were numerous strong aspects. Keep using singing exercises to develop your vocals as there is much promise here Rebecca! Click here for advice on vocal techniques.
Bittersweet - Clear attention to detail, great image and your placement timing was well executed. To go to the next level, you now need more control and support with sustained notes and greater pitch exactness, but this will come with ongoing experience and training, click here for advice on vocal coaches. Great work!
Abbi Watkinson - You chose an ambitious song and delivered it well! A powerful vocal and good consideration to dynamic shape and intensity - some excellent moments here. Do try to keep the ending controlled, it was just a little bit ‘shouty’ today. Improving your microphone technique will help you with your projection, click here for more on microphone techniques, but a great performance overall.
Sparkle and Shine - We loved the 60’s look and again, great preparation and attention to detail. Choreographing and thoughtful harmonies added character. Keep an eye on your pitching as it was not quite held in places, but near exact rhythmic unison. Again, one to watch – could have a commercial viability with more work and polish.
Luisa - Technically strong for your age and development, you were controlled, well supported, had a great backing, layered the sound and took ownership of the stage. You just need to work towards greater assurance in overall presentation to really compete at this level, but a good act.
Mia - Lovely dress! Liked this style and head voice placement - well done here. You also demsontrated a mature sense of shaping when contrasting chorus dynamics and projection. There is a commercial angle here - more than one judge thought you were the best voice in the show so far.
Jessie - Great song choice, your body language communicated the mood, and image was excellent. You were confident and well prepared. Timing, placement and phrasing was good, but to be even better try work on strengthening your pitching. You have much potential, ongoing singing exercises and training will help you develop even more, click here for advice on vocal coaches.
Jessica - Wow! What a mature vocal delivery, with expression and an instinctive sense of colour which works for the style – all at 9 years old!! Aim to take more control of the stage, but of course this will come with experience, click here for more on stage performance tips for singers. A very strong act Jessica. Well done!
Aishlin - A lively performance, building on a good song choice. Some lovely support and colour in legato, and a great attempt to use the stage, click here for more on stage performance tips for singers. Your next step is to give thought to how the image suits your chosen style and keep up the technical training and singing exercises, click here for advice on music synergy and image. Also try work on the pronunciation of your lyrics. We would like to see you add greater conviction to your performance by directing the words, click here for more on singing diction.
Kaci - A good vocal delivery with ornamentation and expression! You have a lovely image and did really well to recover after the memory slip. We all have those – very well handled. Aim for greater confidence generally - this will of course come with further experience, click here for advice on how to overcome the nerves.
Abi Campbell - Beautiful vocals, and a strong foundation on which to build. Liked the backing track too which complemented the act. Your choice of song worked well for your range and vocal strengths. As you gain stage experience you will gain more confidence, which will help you communicate with more conviction. Overall, great vocal delivery, but a little tentative overall, click here for advice on how to overcome the nerves.
David - Now you are a confident guy! And did you perform with stage presence? Oh yes! You have personality in abundance, backed up with technical security for your age. We can see an entertainer in progress here. In fact, you scored top marks from two judges!! A real contender to go through to the final today.
Ellie - You have an individual image and presentation style which both work for you! You also demonstrated the beginnings of stage craft – try to develop this further, click here for more on stage performance tips for singers. Give thought to song choice, click here for tips on good audition songs. Unfortunately the vocals were a little pitchy in places, so keep working on singing excersies to strengthen your pitching.
Emeli - A lively, smiley and enjoyable delivery! Great positive body language too. Audience participation was inevitable. You might need more of a commercial edge and there was scope for greater technical security, but overall you display much promise. A relaxed and enjoyable performance, well done.
Jodie - Pretty! Sweet vocals and cute performance. We liked the acoustic backing track which suited the genre and captured the mood. You nailed this Jodie! You need to keep working on your performance which whilst secure was a little safe and needs to go to the next level, click here for more on stage performance tips for singers.
Faith - You stepped up to the plate and delivered- well done Faith. One of the better acts today in a show of strong acts! Perhaps give thought to song choice which could be just a little more fun and age appropriate, click here for tips on good audition songs. Try to use the stage more – its all yours! Click here for more on stage performance tips for singers.
Mia May - You were well prepared and a good act, capable of holding a bigger stage. We liked the vocal delivery and individual phrasing and style. There was still room for greater energy and stagecraft, click here for tips on stage performance tips for singers, but a great performance nonetheless.
Ella - Great communication and assurance in delivery. You chose a good, upbeat song and this gave you a chance to demonstrate both vocal strength and also the opportunity to paint the words. As one judge puts it ”Groovy work Ella – Really enjoy seeing a performer enjoy their time on stage." Well done!
Xav and Shannis - Really liked the sense of performance and interplay between the two of you. You need bear in mind the style is not new and you may find it difficult to move to the next level. Therefore your challenge is to continue to find a freshness in this genre and delivery style – perhaps a modern edge.
Zara - Colorful, expressive and well paced. You need to think about what to do in the non singing parts, click here for tips on stage performance tips for singers, and for the complete package you need to identify your style and work towards an image which reflects what you are trying to achieve, click here for advice on music synergy and image. Try also to connect more with the audience.
Courtney - This was a strong vocal, and very well presented in terms of confidence, dynamics, shape and mood. You established a very clear statement of identity and demonstrated some good stage craft. Try to ensure your chosen style is clearer, but many strong elements here.
Becky - Great song choice and arrangement. You were very confident and the judges liked this! Watch tempo control in the instrumental-only part, but audience participation was mature – you took ownership of the stage. Lively natural vibrato and dynamics shaping was good too!
Sophie - Cute look! We liked the image, thought you had a great vocal, and technically it was clear you were secure. You have the potential to develop as a viable act. Your next step is stage craft, experience and a clear identity/style, click here for advice on music synergy and image. Try also to connect more with the audience, but you are one to watch.
