Chanel - Good introduction, great image but then the song lost a little momentum for me. Guitar tone just slightly detracted in places and watch song choice, click here for good audition songs. This said, vocally secure and I can see potential here.
Lottie - You sang through your nerves, and there was nice shaping to phrases. but try to make eye contact and engage with your audience. Scope for greater confidence and stagecraft. Would like to see again with more experience.
Marybeth Fieldsend - Liked the image which suited the mood and style, but an underlying tentativess which restricted you initially. Aim to make more use of the stage to build on your technical foundation, click here for stage performance tips.
Emily Simmons - Individual colour evident here, great attention to image, good attempt to convey mood. Less exact intonation in places unfortunately but positive elements Emily. Nice end to your performance.
Alexia Paige - Liked the original, well done here – well articulated lyrics. Secure vocally, with scope for greater projection and contrast, but expressive and individually coloured. Occasionally less certain moments today.
Maite Star - Smooth tones, well expressed and nice shaping and movement within the legato figures. Instrumental part detracted just slightly today, but dynamic contrast added character. Liked the original track – well done here.
Laura-Rose Layden - Comfortable delivery in your style, captivating and image worked for you and the genre. Technically strong. Numerous qualities to your performance and presentation – well done.
Into the Wilderness - Lovely balance / contribution of guitar and vocal, plus melody, dynamics and consistency of tone was good. Musical maturity evident here – consider how the image works for you as a duo, click here for tips on singing groups.
Will Silver - Smooth vocal, lyrics well conveyed, great communication with the audience and use of stage. Well done here. Not convinced about the image which for me needs to be more considered, click here for music synergy and image. Very good Will – best in show!
Lia Veall - Liked the song choice, and you painted the words beautifully. Needs more technical polish and exactness in places, but I can see the personality coming through. Keep going Lia!
Rosie - Smooth vocal slides – love the control! You used the stage, and showed the beginnings of stage craft. Try to communicate with ALL the audience – eye contact would help enormously. Good potential here….
Abi Grace - Watch timing initially, plus slight rushing towards the end, but you created and maintained a mood. I like the originality combining the songs, although not all judges were completely sure it worked….
Courtney Jenkinson - You sang through the nerves well Courtney. Individual placement of phrases worked for you, vocals were confident and good eye contact. Try to make more use of stage, but I liked this.
Roxy Waite - Composed and controlled. Liked the voice, great song choice, and well delivered. Eye contact helped you take control too – try to develop audience engagement, but for me a secure act today.
Ella Jay - A good vocal performance and beginnings of stage presence. The song had a lengthy introduction and open instrumental part which would have been ideal for you to add your own personal touches – try to individualize more freely, but a number of secure aspects.
Chloe Sheedy - Early problems with pitch, although this settled. Many positive elements Chloe – keep going!
Kenzie Milner - Musical awareness in abundance, confident timing, phrasing and transitions. Beginnings of projection and dynamic contrast also. The main issue was intonation unfortunately. Would like to see you again after further training….
Cally Stallard - Make sure guitar sounds as good as it can to support your work, which was otherwise an individual delivery, and you sing with shape and confidence. I think there is a need for a clear commercial edge Cally – would want to see you again with more stylistic direction and experience.
Lauren Cooper - You painted the lyrics beautifully Lauren and gave this everything. Watch tone control in held durations and give thought to the structure of chosen piece – ending did not quite work…. one to watch though.
Jody Townend - You settled into the performance, and handled the intensification with fair support. Aim to use more of the stage and develop experience, click here stage performance tips. Good potential here.
Just Henry - Loved the confidence vocal ad-lib initially, and great attempt to portray the mood and lyric. Watch plosives into the mic and moments of less secure tone control in held durations. Fantastic audience participation! Try to develop the technical security and see you next time.
Iman - You set the correct context initially, looked great, chose a great song and have much potential. The main issue was pitch and intonation which was unfortunately not there today. One to watch with more training.
Laura - Liked the timing, phrasing and legato tones. Liked the arrangement too. Difficult song to execute perfectly but you gave it a good shot. Scored well with some of the judges.
Devon Wood - Aim for greater eye contact and perhaps hold the mic to give you freedom to use the stage. Some nice movement through the break also – well controlled here. Have a think about what to do when you are not singing.
Kezziaah - Lovely vocal, lovely singer, lovely song choice. Watch exactness of intervallic movement and timing into intensified verse was not perfect, but confident to give instruction to the audience – excellent here. Keep working on the vocal security, but great presence and image. Something here…
Jenna Darrell - Confident stage presence, secure vocal. Enjoyed this! Might need an edge to compete - consider a different style or repertoire.
Charlie Slater - Multi skilled, nice vocal, musical and confident to test these abilities in front of over 300 people. Well done Charlie.
North East England Area Final - Sunday 31st May Huddersfield Town Hall, Ramsden Street, Huddersfield, HD1 2TA.
