Pre-Teen Feedback from the London Music Competition

Aya – Bags of potential, but you need to hang on tighter to the notes as it was a little loose. You would have also benefitted from improving your projection so you could go to another level. Click here for tips on voice projection. Excellent determination and lovely voice, try and focus on your falsetto more.

The Histerics – It’s fantastic that you are writing your own songs at your age and the song does have potential. Going forward there needs to be more togetherness, there was not enough backing music coming through, so that needs to be fuller and more harmonies would also give more depth of sound. Strong verses!

Harani – You looked stunning in your outfit. Take care with your facial expression as at times you come across a little too harsh and not on point with the emotion conveyed within the song, click here for facial expressions and gestures whilst singing. Vocally at times you are really hitting those sweet spots, but at others you’re not giving it the full focus required so look to be more consistent. Great attitude and stage presence.

Jasmine Nituan – Lovely choice of song, however it felt like you were perhaps trying too hard and you lost your control at times. Just relax and don’t force the chorus beyond what you are comfortable. Loved your expression and performance- you have great confidence on stage!

Maya Lane – You have a lovely clear diction but you could perhaps benefit from a bit more range in dynamics, click here for tips on music dynamics. Great to see you perform with the guitar, but look to develop some more chord changes. Performance wise- look to convey more expression and more movement in the body even though you have to be near the mic. Loved the acoustic twist on the song.

Mathura – Nice tone but you need to tighten up your tuning and timing to be even better. Song choice wise it was a bit too big for you at the moment, click here for tips on good audition songs. Some parts of the song were out of tune unfortunately, working with a good vocal coach can help you with this.

Leni Zieglmeier – You have a very cool look. The song choice was good but you didn’t feel connected to the song so the emotion didn’t come across as it perhaps could have. Vocally watch your timing, and look to extend the notes as you are not sustaining them and so it feels too empty as it is stopping short on the lines, click here for vocal techniques for singers.

Kate Jukes – Remember the performance starts as soon as you come on the stage, you need to try and hide the nerves and convey a front. Performance wise- look to convey more expression and more movement in the body even though you have to be near the mic, click here for stage performance tips for singers. Add more dynamics to your performance and you will go to the next level.

London Music Competition Feedback

Erin Leah – Some very crisp vocals and a lovely tone. You could have perhaps really let rip to give an impact finale. Good to see you using that stage and a good connection emotionally to the song, click here for more advice on how to sing with emotion. Amazing pitch, musical theatre is definitely your style.

Breeze – Good character and originality from an act finding who they are as an act. Performance was good and you conveyed a good connection to the song. Vocally you can commit more to give the song more impact and even more dynamics, click here for music dynamics. You are clearly a very talented young lady so keep developing.

Ellie Grace – Liked the version of the song you chose to make it your own, click here for tips on how to do music covers. Very well worked dynamics and a very enjoyable performance.  Just don’t push it too hard and lose your control. Really enjoyed the arrangement of the song, well done.

Freddie Hunter – There’s a relaxed and comfortable manner on stage that is beyond his years.  Good use of the stage and a well worked performance. Perhaps going forward look to change your performance moves as they became too predictable, click here for stage performance tips for singers. Liked the song choice, you’re very likeable.

Phoebe Austin – The nerves took control too much unfortunately. More performances will improve your confidence and ability to control the nerves, click here for overcoming performance anxiety. Lovely acoustic version of the song. It’s nice to see someone so young playing an instrument whilst performing.

Asha Banks - You have a lovely smile and that won you across the crowd. Click here for when to or when not too ask for audience participation. You can look to use the stage even more and adding in more varied performance. You were better as you began to relax into the performance and you do have developed and technical vocal skills, which is great to see.

Macie-Rose – Fantastic song choice and you connected with it emotionally. Super tone and raw talent. Performance wise it was a little unsteady but this can develop in time, click here for stage performance tips for singers. Gorgeous big notes!

Jasmine Hood – A very slick performance but take care to not be too mechanical and not natural enough.  Would have liked to see more connection emotionally to the song and conveying that with sincerity, click here for more on how to sing with emotion. A very theatrical performance, the styling seemed a little too mature for your age though.

Feedback from the London Music Competition

Elijah – The key work seemed to hold back the performance, it stemmed the flow and became too static. Vocally you have a great tone, so look to develop your skills on the keys to be more of an asset. Click here for more on performing with musical keyboards. Your voice is so good, not sure the keyboard is always necessary.

Jessie – It a song we’ve heard a lot this competition and it is perhaps harder to impress click here for the more on good audition songs. You needed to bring more fun to the performance which working on developing your expression will easily help you to achieve. You’re young but image wise give us something different that shows you are showing us something of you as an act and to make you stand out more. A very confident performance though.

Liberty – Extra marks for performing your own song, it has lots of potential and it was good to see you didn’t just play it safe. Vocally you are great. A really well written song to go with a beautiful voice.

PLUS ONE – Liked the smiles, never lose them but don’t lose sight of the other emotion that the song conveys. Harmonies were good but look to work on giving them greater depth of sound so it really layers to give a really thick full sound, click here for tips on singing groups. Good introduction to the song and beautiful harmonies. You can tell that you’ve rehearsed well for this performance.

Guy Trundle – A well-rehearsed performance but perhaps a little too forced so just look to check it a little. Loved the stripped back version of this song. You’ve got a good voice, with more practise you’re only going to get better. Great image, love the beanie!

Evan – Super tone and good song choice. Performance wise you got that on point. Perhaps would benefit from development on your vocals to have even more projection which it cried out to go up a gear at the end to conclude an overall enjoyable performance, click here for tips on voice projection. Think you could be a good rapper too!

Sarinna Proudfoot-Mathurin – You looked pretty in your dress and you sung the song well but it was an acted character rather than showing us anything of you as an individual. Not sure the song choice was appropriate for your style of voice; click here for tips on good audition songs. Keep going, there’s a lot of potential here.

Meg Wylie – You set a tone and presence before you even started singing. The backing musicians took it up to a professional level. Vocally it was strong but you need to develop to be a lead on stage. Lots of potential in this act, keep working hard.

Chloe Hackett – Performance routine was a little too over staged and would have benefitted from being a bit more natural. Song choice was a little dated and needed a bit of a modern twist click here for more on how to do music covers. Improving your mic technique will help your voice to come across stronger, click here for microphone techniques
