LONDON DANCE COMPETITION

London Dance Competition: Industry judges have provided feedback for the acts competiting in the TeenStar London dance competition. The industry judges have provided singing and dance feedback on how acts can be successful in developing their performances.

Dance Competition London Feedback - Pre-Teens

Andreea Viliman – You have smiley eyes which is really infectious! Super expression, but look to work that stage more, click here for stage performance tips for singers. Song wise, you lost a bit of control when you tried to force the high notes so consider song choice, click here for the importance of song choice. The confidence in this performance was great, you had such belief in your talent.

Rebecca Christina Barry – You are a confident performer, however you need to take care with your pitch when singing, you also need to watch your diction at times you mumbled some of the words; was this lack of confidence in knowing the words; in which case practice so much that you can’t go wrong. Expression was good in conveying the emotion in the song. Be careful to watch your vocal on the higher notes. Exciting dance break in the middle.

Savannah – Nice vocal with a distinct rasp which gives you an unique edge. Love the rap change in the song. Good song of choice, showed off your versatility.

Theresa Delaney – Your vocal keeps improving however try and add more variation click here for more on adding vocal dynamics. Look to work on developing the performance; more expression and using the stage, you were rooted to the spot, click here for stage performance tips for singers. You’ve got so much soul in your vocal, it’s lovely to listen to.

Aimee Leigh – Loved the song choice but it felt you needed to commit more to the performance and the vocal in particular. Vocally you can vary your delivery, attack and projection to really add more colour click here for more on adding vocal dynamics as a singer. A good vocal coach will be able to assist you to be even better with your projection. You made the performance very believable.

The Nightmare – Loved your expression to convey the emotion in the song. You told the story so well in your performance in a well worked routine. Great concept, good story telling in your performance. Great versatility in movements, watch on the finishing off all lines.

Maya Steadman – Super tone, however you must watch your microphone technique as your volume and projection is being affected by you not being consistent with keeping the microphone close to your mouth, click here for tips on microphone technique for singers. Vocally watch your breathing as your timing of it so you don’t get breathless when required to hit the notes. Ellie Humberstone – Lots of potential, but look to develop your projection to be even better. You’ve got a great look; the image is very good.

You can tell you’re enjoying what you’re doing, this is infectious to your audience.

Vaidile Jonikas – You look great and your facial expression is good. Well executed lines, you did a really good job.

Tara Superhero – Liked the costume and music, it all worked really well together. Your use of props also made it very engaging. Great extensions, you used your strengths. Looking forward to your next performance!

Anie Gharbaoui – Song choice was a good one, current and fresh, click here for the importance of song choice. Look to develop your vocal to be even better, at times you were forcing it and at other times sounding a little babyish so look to find your own voice. Josh Lord – Good to see you working the stage but try and work the stage and your performance with more purpose; it’s a very sensitive and emotion song. Hazel – Your hair and image looked great to make you stand out. Good purpose with your performance, consider coming to the front of the stage to connect even more to your audience. Vocally take care not to force and push the vocal too hard and lose your control. You’re a star! Very mature vocal for someone so young.

Jordan Nash – Wow! Your footwork was amazing. To tell such a beautiful story at your age is wonderful. You made one of the judge’s cry a little. The confidence was great, as was your routine. You are a star! 

Phoebe Austin – You are comfortable on the guitar which gives it a nice organic live sound. Song choice was a good one and you worked the dynamics well. Your expression was also effective but also consider conveying the light and optimism in the emotion and not just the sadness and despair. Your guitar skills are very good, keep working on these and they’ll be flawless soon!

Hannah Hague – Great look for your performance. Well executed lines. Good strength, lovely story telling. You’ve got a great talent, looking forward to your next performance!

Maddie Fairbank – You are comfortable on the guitar which gives it a nice organic live sound. Song choice was a good one. Lots of potential, but look to develop your projection to be even better.

Parisa – Great job working without a partner, it makes you look professional. Good skill to hold. Your performance was very clean and strong, well done a very brave performnace! 

It's My Party – Lovely performance, but watch your feet, it wasn’t as tight as it could’ve been. 

Kiera – Great flexibility and posture with some super advanced moves, well done! 

Mid-Teen London Dance Competition Feedback

FR1TZ – Loved the music choice and it was a good modern vibe. You’ve got a unique element to you, keep working on this to help you stand out even more!

Jessie – Super tone to your vocal, however the performance was a little stiff and you needed to give us more movement and use the stage more, click here for more on stage performance tips for singers. Jasmine Janet-Rose –  Beautiful voice and super tone to your vocal however the performance was a little stiff and you needed to give us more movement and use the stage more, click here for more on stage performance tips for singers. Vocally look to vary your delivery, attack and projection more to really add more colour, click here for more on adding vocal dynamics as a singer to keep the interest going throughout the performance. You’ve got great control of your vocal range. 

Tara & Nadia – Your image suited the performance very well. Your costumes and performance were on point. The dance had good symmetry throughout and you told the story well. Good work girls!

Emma Trotter – Nice tone to your vocal but look to work on your projection to be even better. Look to also develop your microphone technique by getting the mic closer to your mouth and that will help the projection of your vocal also, click here for tips on microphone technique for singers. Song choice is also vital to be on point and this song was too big for you today and you lacked the control to be in tune throughout, click here for tips on the importance of song choice.

Charlotte – A fully committed performance. Well-acted and good expression. Strong vocal and projection to end the performance with a climax! Could really see you on the big stage, keep going, you’ll get there with even more practise.

Grace Plummer – Liked the song choice and the version, but you needed to give the vocal more dynamics in the vocal click here for more on bringing vocal dynamics to the performance. Also commit more to the performance especially in the instrumental sections and at the end a real missed opportunity. Also consider looking to adlib more, this will help strengthen your performance.

Talia Rose – It's great that you have the confidence to perform your own song, however the song needed to have more of a hook to really grab us, click here for tips on writing songs. Will Daniels – Good committed and confident performance; you really worked the stage. Look to really punch out the vocal and work the dynamics of the song more to be vocally more interesting, click here for more on adding vocal dynamics. Just need to touch up on your vocal control to ensure every note is perfection, but your confidence is fabulous!

Margaret Perryman – Conveyed the emotion in the song really well. Consider conveying the optimism and light and not just the pain and despair in the song. Click here for tips on singing with facial expressions. Really good song choice to bring back! You showed how much you felt it, the passion was lovely to see.

Daniel G – It felt a slow start and the routine needed more variation. Routine could have flowed more and was a little disjointed. Keep practising and training and you’ll be able to tighten these bits up.

Elisha Oak – Well done, the song choice was good., howwever we would like to see more movement as it was quite a static performance, click here for more on stage performance tips for singers. Take care not to over use the vibrato in your performance, only use it sparingly. 

Dance Competition Feedback 

Leni Zieglmeier – You have a super-rich vocal and alway give a lot of depth and control to your vocal performance. Look to use your eyes more to reach out to your audience, click here for tips on singing with facial expressions. Great emotion and vocal control. Your image was great, the outfit is really pretty.

Josephine Shaw – With such a slow-paced song it’s really important you fill the gaps and make use of the space to really bring a dynamic vocal performance. Playing around with the tone, delivery, projection even more can achieve this and keep the interest going throughout, click here for bringing vocal dynamics to the performance.

Georgia Bird – Lovely perfomance with good lines and extentions. Watch your facial expressions at times, try and add more emaotion through these. 

Mikkah – Lots of potential but take care with your vocal control. You would benefit from getting closer to the microphone to enhance your projection. You’ve got amazing tone and range. Your runs are really controlled helping you give a good performance.

Izzy Kuhle – Look to commit more to the performance and use the stage more and use your movement with performance, click here for more on stage performance tips for singers. Vocally, watch your tuning as you lost control of your pitch at times, don’t look for power and force the vocal at the detriment of losing control. It would be wise to pick a song choice that is better suited to your vocal, so as to not stretch it too much, click here for tips on the importance of song choice.

Lydia – Get as close as you can to the microphone as your projection suffered as you were too far from the microphone, click here for tips on microphone technique for singers. Loved that you performed with a smile throughout, look to give it more dynamic through the performance. 

Albie Davies – Super tone to your vocal, but remember to use the stage, click here for more on stage performance tips for singers. It was a good song choice for your vocal, although your phrasing could have been longer.

Annie King – Great song choice and you made it your own, which was great. Image wise you are individual and that makes you stand out. Good work!

Amber Garewal – You need to be really careful picking which song is best to perform. Your song is very popular and sung by an iconic singer which, although you did a good job, you are always going to come up and stand out second best to the original. Nadia Djilali – Lovely perfomance with good lines and extentions. Nice variation of moves and good story telling. 

Madison Henderson – With such a bold song choice we would have expected a more commanding performance. You need to be really careful picking which song is best to perform. Your song is very popular and sung by an iconic singer which although you did a good job you are always going to come up and stand out second best to the original. Beaux Beatz – Well worked stage routine and presence. Interaction between you was engaging and on point. Vocally you just need to get a little tighter with your harmonies! Keep practising as a group until every element of your performance and vocal is flawless.

Destiny – Get closer to that microphone you are miles away from it and you are losing a lot of projection vocally, plus clarity, click here for more on microphone technique for singers. You have a cool image which is important for a singer and a beautiful voice that married well with the song choice.

Lashayah – You’ve done it again, produced a smashing performance. Such a silky and distinct vocal! Liked the mash up, it worked really well. Well done a great end to the show! 

London Dance Competition - Late-Teen and Dance Groups Feedback 

Run Boy Run – A high impact routine that worked perfectly with the music to keep you going throughout the performance. Great start to the show, well done! 

Helen Lily – With such a bold song choice we would have expected a more commanding performance. You need to be really careful picking which song is best to perform. Your song is very popular and sung by an iconic singer which although you did a good job you are always going to come up and stand out second best to the original. Watch your tuning especially when pushing the vocal as you lost control on occasions.

Khushboo Kumai – There’s a place for doing acapella but not sure it’s when you are doing just one song. A very brave performance, but it would have been more engaging with backing music. 

Courtney + Lucy Skeggs – A very graceful and poetic performance. You have great partnership but try and extend your lines a little more. 

Charlotte Sara – Loved you made the song your own. It would be good to hear some of your own songs if you haven’t started already, click here for tips on writing songs. Take care not to push the vocal too hard and lose control.

Brittany Stevens – For a large part of the routine you were just centre stage, look to use all of the stage both left and right. Good strength, but look to be more creative with your movements. 

Lauren Morris – It's great that you have the confidence to perform your own song, not sure it’s catchy enough as a hook to be a potential hit, click here for tips on writing songs. It needs more dynamics playing around with the tone, delivery, projection even more can achieve this and keep the interest going throughout the song, , click here for more on adding vocal dynamics as a singer. 

Amelya Chappell – Wow what flexibility some really impressive moves. You have great versatility in your body. Just watch your feet in the tricks.

Jade Oni – Super interpretation of the music and the emotion within the music. Lovely flexibility, nice range in technique. Now try and connect with the audience more, bring us into your performance with more facial expressions. 

Sahrali Frances – You have lots of ability however you need to be really careful picking which song is best to perform. Your song is very popular and sung by an iconic singer which although you did a good job you are always going to come up and stand out second best to the original. Courtney Skeggs – Good expression to give us that extra element of performance. You have such great stage presence and you relaly push through your technique, well done! 

Erika Soteri – A sultry and sassy performance backed up with super timing and a rich tone to your vocal. Consider taking the mic off the stand and working the stage, click here for more on stage performance tips for singers

Millie Ball – A high energy performance demonstrating lots of practice and fitness to perform. Gtreat story telling, but be careful to finish all your lines. 

E-Kidz – Wow! You are the first act to score FULL marks from all judges which is a first this year - top marks exceptional!!!

Amber Silver – You have lots of talent lots of power however you need to be really careful picking which song is best to perform. Your song is very popular and sung by an iconic singer which although you did a good job you are always going to come up and stand out second best to the original. Presto Performing Arts – Great energy and commitment. Lovely happy faces throughout the performance and great costumes. Watch your spacing and timing at points, but a fun performance, well done! 

Alex Nicole Jamieson – Good expression but look to commit even more to delivering that, click here for tips on singing with facial expressions. Also embrace the light and optimism as well as the sadness and despair in the song. Take care to keep control of the vocal and don’t push too hard just for a bit of additional volume at the expense of control.

Omen – You work well as a group, but remember to execute all leg lines fully. 

Livvy Beer – Really engaging song with a super hook to have lots of potential. You have lots of talent and need to focus on being prolific with the song writing!

LONDON DANCE COMPETITIONS
