Bethany Nolan - Pleasant, secure and good attempt to use body language. Try to find a stylistic edge and greater conviction. Good attempt though. Like that you made the song your own and didn’t try to imitate the artist you’re covering!
Betty - Well done. Great projection, contrast, tone control and use of mic. Aim to make use of the stage, click here for stage performance tips. You can tell that you’re feeling the song!
Jade Edwards - Brave low register to open, clear attention and investment in image and choreography of backing dancers was well prepared. You need to make sure you have clear direction when choosing material, but a polished act.
Callum Jackson - Captured mood, clear definition of guitar backing. Well balanced, commercial interest here. Vibrant tone.
Alana Hanley - Individual expression added colour, mood was conveyed and image worked in the context of the style. Try not to hide behind your hat, we can’t see you that well. Would like to see a wider repertoire. You split the judges down the middle.
Casi Mai - Comfortable performance - you are good at what you do. Image works too. Very confident and clearly delivered staccato lyrics, great intervallic control and legato through ranges. Confident balanced guitar work. Commercial too. Not much not to like about this.
Lydia Roberts - Great voice Lydia, in places very good. The next step is to develop image in context of your genre, click here for advice on music synergy and image. Not convinced the song choice was the right one for you; click here for good audition songs.
Emma Halvorson – Susan Boyle would be proud! Composed, attention to image was controlled and almost always secure vocally. Needs an edge and greater sense of performance today. Much promise though. Some training would help you to improve even further, click here for the importance of vocal training.
Katie Lou – Personality comes out in this song, good choice. You’ve got an individual look. Fun to watch and listen to. Good pair of lungs!
Georgia Mushet - Quite a long introduction, remember you’ve only got a few minutes to impress, but this settled, and you captured the mood. Good delivery overall. Next step is to find and shape your style. Make sure you find your own style to help you stand out more, click here music synergy and image.
The Outskirts - Nice blending, needed more energy initially, but this grew on me. Well done. You look good visually as a group.
Rachel - Pleasant tone, head voice a bit tentative, timings slips, but much promise. Split the judges. You need to create a connection between you and your voice!
Lewis Maxwell - Very good. Scored well across the judges. Good luck in the next round. You did a really good version of this song, you’re a real musician. Great falsetto.
Katie Clark - Liked the image and you warmed into the delivery. Try to make further use of stage and audience connection to build on a clear sense of expression and individual colour, click here for stage performance tips.
Jack Dezzo - Much promise – try to find an individual edge in this style and give attention to image, click here for music synergy and image. Great song! Work on being individual.
Amelia Benoit - Great vocal, tone control and technique. Image worked for you. One of the best acts we’ve seen today. Not sure it was the right song choice for you, click here for good audition songs.
North West England & Scotland Area Final - Sunday 24th May Royal Northern College of Music Opera Theatre, 124 Oxford Road, Manchester, M13 9RD.
