Bethany Patton – Your voice was a lovely tone! Push it a little more. A bigger performance is in there, you just need to find it, click here for stage performance tips. Lose Myself is a very instrumental based song and for you to make it sound like your own song is a great thing! Beautiful breathy tone and lots of power to back it up in the vocals – great to hear an intro too. I like your guitar work.
Tia Butterworth – Nice strong vocals but the song choice wasn’t right, it felt dated, click here for more on good audition songs. You have a HUGE vocal range, didn’t expect it. You confidently delivered it. Powerful voice and good melody!
Abbie Robinson-O’Neill – Good vocal range and a passionate, dramatic style. You have huge range but I think you need to work on your timing with the piano. It’s very difficult to play and sing but keep developing this, click here for tips on performing with musical keyboards. Perfect song choice!
Ally McNeilly – Nice song choice, but it was missing something! Cool song, interesting chords! Good engaging performance. The song was well-structured; click here for more on pop song structure.
Molly Boyd – Be careful not to shout in the loud sections and project instead, click here for ways to improve voice projection. Love the attitude you put in the song! This song needs choreography!
Tyla Winter – Was pitchy to start with but once you relaxed it started to come back. That mash up was great for your vocal; both songs suited you, click here for more on creating a music mashup. You should start writing your own songs! Watch your mic control, when you look down at your guitar, you vocal fades, click here for tips on microphone techniques for singers.
Kathryn McLaren – Lovely delicate vocal with a folky edge. Worked well with the guitar style. But show us the emotion in the song, click here for how to sing with emotion. Love the confidence you bought out of the song!
Kelsey Haig – Good strong voice. Nice twang on the vocals, the song suited you well. Developing a connection with the audience will only help you improve further, nail that and you’ll go far, click here for stage performance tips. Never make the face that says you’ve made a mistake, make it look like you did it on purpose.
Ashleigh Burns – Great image. Good to see you listen to the advice, well done! Guitar playing was good- keep at it. The picking style suits you vocal. Faster section of the song stood out too. Your chorus is the same as Pompeii by Bastille, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Really enjoyed the song.
Natchaya – Nice image. Lots of passion was shown, pitchy in places! Work on your breathing to improve, click here for breathing exercises for singing. Such an emotional song choice but you nailed it! You should learn piano and sing if that’s the road you’re going down. Don’t use the mic as a way to hide, move away from it.
Rachelle & Brittany – Good dramatic performance. Movement was great, but show the emotion too. You’ve got an unusual sound but it works well as a duo. Stage presence is essential, make sure you have it, click here for ways to improve stage presence. You guys have a good image!
Lucy Moore – Wow!!! Brilliant song choice. Good use of the stage. This song needs a big performance you definitely gave one! Can’t think of any bad points about your performance, keep doing what you’re doing. You gave me goose bumps!
Lara Hickson – Unusual sound – fast tempo worked well! Nice vocals but pitchy in places! Really love your tone! Just need to develop everything as a whole now!
Colleen & Kayleigh – Smile! You guys sound great together. Your tones blend beautifully – remember to support those lowers notes more. Your harmonies were good. Maybe a bit more variation would have made the song stand out more. Love that you made the song your own.
North West England & Scotland Area Final - Sunday 24th May Royal Northern College of Music Opera Theatre, 124 Oxford Road, Manchester, M13 9RD.
