Elise – Strong vocals and a focused performance. You have a sweet tone to your vocal and a crisp delivery just commit more to the performance. Click here for more on facial expressions and gestures whilst singing and how to sing with emotion. Your control was on point which allowed you to hold the song well. Don’t be afraid to take the mic off the stand and use more of the stage, you seemed a little static at parts, click here for stage performance tips.
Eleanor – Nice tone backed up with some solid guitar work. Good to see you enjoying the performance, helps us engage with you as an artist. Would love to hear your own material. Try to relax more on the stage and it will show in your performance, click here for advice on how to deal with your nerves.
Hayley Blatcher – You picked a very current song and did it very well. Take care with your control in particular sustaining the notes and attacking the low notes which it other times you sustained the high notes perfectly, click here for advice on control using vocal techniques for singers. Would like to see more performance and commitment to working that stage and bringing a show, make the audience yours, click here for stage performance tips.
Daynah Lorelle – A good connection to the song emotionally delivering a sensitive performance. Really drew us in with your emotionally deep performance, click here for more advice on how to sing with emotion. Try to loosen up a little and it’ll help your performance naturally improve, you did a really good job up there!
Megan – You’ve got a strong image. Don’t forget to perform as soon as you get on stage, it had a long introduction and would have benefitted from you starting, remember you’ve only got 3 ½ minutes to impress the judges. Song choice was a big song to take on and you did well but needed more projection, click here for advice on voice projection. Also don’t be frightened to commit more to the performance and use that stage, click here for stage performance tips.
Russ Reed – Your song was good, it flowed nicely and had lots of potential. Slightly better use of dynamics could really drive through the chorus and different sections of the song as you desire, click here for more information on writing that killer song chorus. You delivered a confident performance, but you need to try to interact with the audience more, click here for engaging the audience. You’ve improved since your last performance and the song is better!
Suzanna Rooney – Really enjoyed the song choice! A committed performance but perhaps lacking in stage craft to really convey the emotion of the song. Remember to use that stage, your eyes need to connect with the audience more and don’t be afraid to use your arms to express emotion, click here for stage performance tips. You could benefits from some work on your vocal control; this is something a good vocal coach can help you with! Check out our Essex singing partner Bella Harvey of The Vox Suite.
Finlay Frost – Nice rasp but don’t over use it, use sparingly for more effect. Would have liked to see you go up the gears and really climb into the chorus. Liked your image commanded extra attention to start with. Sam Smith is a difficult song choice as his voice is incredible, so it’s difficult for you to stand out with it, click here for the importance of good audition songs. With a little more control, especially in your higher register, you could be even better!
Alexandria Dewsall – Vocally good but need to perform more, use that stage more and perform from the moment you are on the stage to remove that awkward start, click here for stage performance tips. Your song choice suited your range well, but it’s a song we hear quite often making it more difficult for you to stand out, click here for the importance of good audition songs. Believe in yourself, you’ve got a lovely voice!
Kerry-Alice Hartnett – A committed performance but you need to make sure you relax into the performance and don’t force the vocal and lose control. Click here for microphone techniques for singers as you need to develop that more, which with more performance will improve. More practice on the stage will help you to refine your performance, click here for advice on music events.
Ciara Ramsey – Liked your idea for the mash up and it worked well for you, click here for more on creating music mash ups. Performance wise you were just too static both facially and with your movement on stage, click here for more on facial expressions and gestures whilst singing and click here for stage performance tips. Vocally got better as it went on, did you warm up properly? Click here for the importance of singing warm ups.
Pia Harmony – What a lovely song! The red hair makes you stand out; it’s definitely getting redder each time. Vocally you have a super tone and the key suits the sweet tone in your range. You’ve got a quirky vocal! Be braver with your vocal range; you tend to sing in the same vocal range. Striking hook line which is good for getting a song into people’s heads.
Hannah Hall – You have a sharp folk rasp to your vocal and you picked a terrific cover which you conveyed with sensitivity. A good cover for you to pick also as it felt you connected emotionally to the song and us to the emotion in the song, click here for more advice on how to sing with emotion.
