Bristol’s Got Talent: Music industry judges provided feedback for mid-teen singers and songwriters who performed to prove Birmingham’s got talent at The Anson Rooms in Bristol.

Saffron – Be careful with your mic control; click here for more on microphone techniques for singers. Performing a stage number does mean you are performing a character rather than showing your personality and originality, so try to make yourself stand out more! The vocal was good.
Bethan Marsden – Nice tone and good vocal. Song choice is massive, it’s a hugely emotional song but you are not demonstrating or showing enough emotion, click here for how to sing with emotion. Your performance seemed a little too static; click here for stage performance tips.
Callum Walsh – A very confident performance, so well done. Good projection but watch your vocal control, click here for vocal techniques for singers. Better mic control would keep the levels consistent, click here for microphone techniques for singers.
Eve Smith – Nice vocal control. Try and work out a stage persona and image, not sure wearing a coat is on point, click here for advice on music synergy and image. Also perform throughout, you put pressure on yourself by not practicing and working out what you were going to do in the instrumental sections. Heather Kerr – Good vocals but look to develop the vocal dynamics in particular sustaining notes, vocal runs and changing the tone to give more dynamic, click here for music dynamics. You’ve got a really nice image! Try and relax some more so it comes over across in your performance and you look like you’re enjoying it, click here for overcoming performance anxiety.
Rebecca Barrett – Look to commit more to the performance. Look to develop the vocal dynamics in particular sustaining notes, vocal runs and changing the tone to give more dynamic, click here for music dynamics. You connected really well with the audience, nice performance!
Millie Gibson – You have great control with a mature and raspy vocal that it is very engaging; don’t be frightened to let it go. Remember to make the song completely your own, click here for advice on how to do music covers. A beautiful rich voice and lovely image.
Charlotte – Nice vocal. Lovely tone! Remember the performance starts as soon as you are on the stage, so perform as soon as centre stage and the track is playing. It was nice to see you performing throughout the performance, but make sure you make use of the instrumentals, click here for more on music instrumentals.
Olivia – A very unique performance/image. Liked you thought about image and accessories, click here for more on music synergy and image. I really liked how you did oyur own song, it’s got some good lyrics! To take it to the next level, it just needs a strong hook to keep the audience ‘hooked’, click here for tips on writing a pop chorus.
Naomi Jean – Don’t pull that mic away too quick and lose your projection, click here for more on microphone techniques for singers. Performance wise look to develop your facial expression to convey more emotion and the emotion in the song. Talis Eros – Good character within your vocal and good control. Good use of stage including coming to the front for a very polished performance. Going forward you need to work the dynamics more and get us to connect emotionally to the song even more, click here for more on music dynamics and how to sing with emotion. Great image and you sounded very good.
Louis Stone – Lots of potential, watch your breathing and work the dynamics more to give greater range to the performance, click here for more on music dynamics and how to sing with emotion. Watch the pitching as at times fell away but liked the rapping; it gave the performance a nice lift!
Chanelle Hawkins – Vocally very nice but needed to bring in more expression and emotion! Don’t be frightened to use your hands and move around, take the mic off the stand and use that stage, click here for stage performance tips. Really good song choice and well delivered.
Martha Clements – Like the original song, look to try and connect us more with eye contact and conveying more expressing. It’s often difficult to perform and play the keyboard, but there are ways of preventing your performance looking static, click here for more tips on performing with musical keyboards. A good original song well delivered.
Lizzy – You have lots of potential but very difficult to impress with such an iconic song sung by such an iconic lady, click here for more on good audition songs and click here for advice on how to do music covers to help you stand out. Liked that you smiled throughout and gave appropriate expression throughout. Just take care with your vocal control. Try to deliver the song in your own unique way!
Lucianna – It can be difficult to perform when you’ve got a guitar but please try to, click here for stage performance tips. In the main you need to convey the song in your eyes and facially, click here for tips on facial expressions and gestures whilst singing. Parts of your vocal were a little nasally, which is something that can help developed with coaching and direction, click here for the importance of vocal training.
Ashleigh – The song was a brave choice and not one that immediately stood out as the right one for you as it didn’t show off the sweeter tone of your vocal range. Vocally you struggled with the pitch of the song which a good vocal coach could assist in ironing out, click here for the importance of vocal training. Lots of potential but with a little help you could go far.
Anastasia Helbert – Lots of potential with a sweet tone to your vocal but in places the vocal was a little thin so look to develop the power and range which a good vocal coach will be able to assist you with, click here for the importance of vocal training. Use the stage get the mic off the stand and move around especially in the instrumental sections you need to perform, click here for more on music instrumentals! Try to relax a bit more which will come across more in your performance.
Kieran Marsh – Like your original song but took a while to get going and need to work on that all important hook, click here for help on writing a pop chorus. Dynamics can really help to drive through the chorus, click here for more on music dynamics. Really nice that you spoke to everyone too and seemed confident and at home on stage.
Isobel Sutton – Like your original song but you need to work on that all important hooks, click here for help on writing a pop chorus. Vocally you have good projection and clear diction just be careful to watch your control in places, click here for vocal techniques for singers. Try to relax some more and enjoy it.
Leia Salter – Vocally you are really good but there is a lack of facial expression, click here for advice on bringing more facial expressions and gestures whilst singing. Don’t be frightened to commit to the performance. Try to work on your breathing more as this will help with your performance, click here for breathing exercises for singing.
Annabel – Your mic control was spot on and your vocals were so smooth! Just let the vocal go, it could be very special. Great performance. Just being picky, but work on finding your own style to help you stand out more, click here for advice on music synergy and image.
