Brighton Talent Auditions: See industry feedback below. Please be aware views expressed by judges are opinions and subjective to that particular judging panel. These views in no way reflect the views of the TeenStar competition, and are published with a view to being beneficial to the performing acts.
Isabelle Jobson – You had a good volume to your vocals and a strong emotional connection to the song. You are aware you have a twang to your singing which gives character. You would now benefit from working on your diaphragm to release tension in your neck; this will allow your total freedom in your range when singing. Click here for advice on vocal ranges – finding your vocal ranges.
Bolt – You had a lovely style and tone with good control. Your song choice is really important; you want to be picking songs that show off the best of your vocal range, click here for good audition songs. You would benefit from ensuring you have properly warmed up your voice before performing - click here also for advice on singing warm ups.
Fintan – Your performance had nice key-work and a great energy. What will come with more practice is working the dynamics to really drive through the hook. Click here for more information on music dynamics.
Connie Parker – You had great pitching with a warm tone. In general you had good eye contact - just make sure you don’t look down too often. Click here for more tips on effectively engaging the audience. Also think about song choice and working the dynamics to bring more energy into your performance, click here for good audition songs.
Katie Pounder – You had a nice tone but try to bring more colour into your performance. Click here for more on music dynamics. A good vocal coach will be able to develop your projection to be even better. We could sense you were a little nervous; click here for some advice on how to deal with nerves as a singer.
Simona Cutifani – You have good projection but just need to watch your control. Click here for more assistance on vocal techniques for singers; they will be able to help you with your control.
Lois Howard-Walsh – There is a nice tone to your vocals and this was a good song choice. You had a unique sound and a good connection with the audience. You would benefit from expanding your dynamics within the performance. Click here for more information on music dynamics.
Alannah James – You have a good tone to your voice and a good vibe to your performance but your diction wasn’t always so clear. Click here for more information on good audition songs as you picked a very popular song which we hear a lot and this makes it difficult to stand out.
Morgan Smith – Good decision to do a song normally performed by a man and vocally you look to have developed and improved. You had great lyrical expression and a unique tone with a strong, emotional connection. Click here for more on singing warm ups which you may find beneficial.
Taylor Little – You packed a lot of emotion into your performance and had good control. Look to use all the tools at your disposal. Improved eye contact will really help you to connect to your audience. Click here for more tips on engaging the audience.
Charlotte Plank – Song choice is so important - you have a lovely tone but under pressure the song is testing you. Click here for more on good audition songs. You have a mature sound and we sense a powerhouse in you but you would benefit from working on your control and breathing which a singing teacher could help you with, click here for the importance of vocal training.
Charlotte Roberts – You had good projection and lots of energy but should now look to work on dynamics in order to drive through the chorus. Click here for more information on music dynamics.
Kirsty Davis – You have a nice tone to your vocals and made the cover your own with a Celtic folk feel which we enjoyed. You have a lovely softness and good connection to the material but would now benefit from adding more dynamics to your performance. Click here for music dynamics tips.
