Singing contest for teenagers in Essex, TeenStar has provided music industry feedback for singers at the Essex TeenStar auditions, which took place at The Palace Theatre, Southend-On-Sea. The 2013 auditions for the singing contest for teenagers in Essex, TeenStar, saw the best teenage singers, songwriters and solo artists from Essex and its surrounding areas take to the stage in their bids to impress a music industry judging panel and capacity crowd. With a place in the TeenStar 2013 Regional Finals up for grabs, the contestants who took part in the singing contest for teenagers in Essex had a lot to play for!
Judging the singing contest for teenagers in Essex were Emma Durrant from Essence Music Agency, Julie Sparling from Camena Music Services, Ross Simpson from Woodbury Studios, Lee Webster from Vocal Tutor (now the first tutor to be teaching the USA based “The Vocalist Studio Techniques” in the UK, and Head of Future Music Chris Grayston.

Singing contest for teenagers in Essex – Pre-Teen category
David Dunne – Impressed that he performed his own song. Just be careful to tidy up your guitar strumming.
Summer Hurley – Good to see you performing as you sing which is important even though it’s an audition.
Josh Gleaves – Good image and strong vocal with a committed performance.
Talia Liebertan – Song had good structure and you used dynamics well. Vocal lessons would help to strengthen sustaining the notes and extending your range.
Eve Glenister – Really performed the song well. Was well rehearsed and practiced.
Khaya Cambell – Good song choice, you just need to perform more to gain confidence.
Ellie Baxter – Potentially needs to have more confidence when performing.
Kyra Smith – More performance needed. Hopefully we’ll see you start to perform and relax more.
Georgia Turner – Turned up looking the part, just learn to perform more.

Rachel Lilly – Vocal sounded under strain and would benefit from vocal lessons to sing with more clarity.
Lucy Sullivan – Extremely nervous which affected the performance very much, but now you’ve had the experience you will be much better for next time.
Isobella Dowd – Strong vocal. You need to work on sustaining the high notes though.
Jade Lipasso – Potential is there. You need to work on dynamics to improve overall.
Layla Geary – One of the best vocals of the day.
Chana – Looked very smart but needs to loosen up a little bit looked and acted very serious.
Blessing – Had a lovely rasp to her voice.

Courtney English – Unfortunately nerves got the better of your performance.
Summer Smith – Very impressive. Had a distinct image and strong vocal.
Joe Fox – Remember to look up when performing.
Xheneta Bajraktari – Needed to punch the vocals out more.
Jessica Taylor – Lovely vocal. Think posture when performing. Look up and try not to hunch.
Jay Thompson Group – Need to integrate your rapping more - one is finishing and the next one is starting not together. Needs more practice.
George Smith – Slow start but once you got going it got better.
Jazz – Great potential with lovely tone and rasp to the vocal.
Lauren – Performed the song well, but I’m not sure the image fitted the song.
Sam Alexander – Loved his own song - the arrangement was very impressive.
The Falling – Always make sure the guitar is in tune.
Elise Keeling – Great vocal control - perhaps pick a less obvious cover to really show off your voice.

Emily Carter – Loved the styling.
Devotion – Harmonies were good but could make them more diverse for more impact.
Siobhan Peart – Remember to look up at your audience when performing.
Sarah Elliott – Intense performance with a lovely tone but need more volume.
Junior – Had a long intro and you needed to perform a lead into the vocals.
Matthew Church – Nice idea but the transition between songs wasn’t as smooth as it could have been.
Jessica Dowding - Had a powerful vocal with a country twang.
