Brighton singing contest for teenagers, TeenStar has provided music industry feedback for singers at the Brighton TeenStar auditions, which took place at Hove Centre, Brighton. The 2013 auditions for the singing contest for teenagers in Brighton, TeenStar, saw the best teenage singers, songwriters and solo artists from Brighton and its surrounding areas take to the stage in their bids to impress a music industry judging panel and capacity crowd. With a place in the TeenStar 2013 Regional Finals up for grabs, the contestants who took part in the singing contest for teenagers in Brighton had a lot to play for!
Judging the singing contest for teenagers in Brighton were Former Miss Brighton and Reverb Radio and Coastway Hosptial Radio presenter Tino Leonard; Sam Black from Vocademy Nigel Ball from IvyArch Studios, song creator George McFarlane; local vocalist Lesley Mitchell; and Head of A&R at Future Music Chris Grayston.

BRIGHTON SINGING CONTEST FOR TEENAGERS BRIGHTON – PRE-TEEN CATEGORY
Elisha- Great pitching and confidence.
Ella Collins-Godden – Watch song choice as you will always be compared to the original artist. This is hard when you’re not quite at that level yet.
Holly White – Great idea to make the cover her own by going acoustic of a dance track.
Amy Dunn – Lovely song choice, need to try and project more with right vocal coaching this would improve.
Lilly Lawson- Good pitching without accompaniment.
Tallula- You were very nervous! Keep practicing. You definitely have something.
Anouszka Taverna – Must practice more to remember the words fully and never stop.
Ella Simpsons – Loved the scats.

Laura- Very soulful voice. Enjoyable performance.
Billi Rose Byrne – Must learn the words can’t audition with the words as won’t be able to do that on stage.
Anna- Lovely vocal, but try to relax more.
Holly Durban- Nice, powerful delivery.
Lauren- Confident delivery. Nice timing. Pitching needs work.
Sas- Tea- Liked it but you need more confidence in yourselves.
Mila- Lovely tone to your voice. Started a little too low and shy- work on your confidence.
Tia- Nice technique
Michael Barry – Just watch timing.
Lilly- Technically brilliant but the song choice let you down; would have liked to have seen a more contemporary song.
Grace- Very powerful performance!
Charlotte & Erinn – In Places really good harmonies in others more practice is required.
Florence- Great delivery. Well done.
Morgan- Nice technique and great outfit!
Lily-Nicely done, work on your low notes though.
BRIGHTON SINGING CONTEST FOR TEENAGERS – 13-15 MID-TEEN CATEGORY
Alfie Maxwell – Nice tone, Nice groove, and nice power. Good confidence.
Sian- Nice range, good pitching and control.
Remedy – Nice tone but need to practice more as out of synch.
Karis- Good pitching and a good performance. Lovely vibrato at the end.
Dylan Corbett-Bader – Think image for the song you are doing almost thought you were a rapper when you came in.
Dylan- Nice deep rich voice. Your image didn’t quite match the song though so maybe reassess that. Would like to hear a more modern song choice from you.
Abigail- Lovely to hear an original song. Good tone. Try lifting the key a little to push your voice.
Rosie- Needed some help with pitching so a backing track might have helped. Nice tone on the higher notes though!
Cordie- Sweet voice. Needed a bit more excitement.
Rachael- Pleasant voice but you rushed a little; watch your timing. Good projection and confidence.
Suzanne- Nice soft voice. Song could have been a little more exciting and lifted up. Work on strengthening your falsetto.
Nathannael- Great voice and it suited your style. Make sure you breath regularly. Good pitching.
Caitlin- Beautiful lush tones! Great image, good song. Make sure you know what you’re singing about.
Bryony- Good power and performance. Work on your low notes.
BRIGHTON SINGING CONTEST FOR TEENAGERS – FURTHER FEEDBACK FOR THE 13- 15 MID TEEN CATEGORY
Pia- Very brave to do a mash up. Try not to put too much into the song. Sweet tone but work on your diction.
G-Star- Work on your strengths and loose the weaknesses. Think harmonies and certain members not doing solo’s.
Julia- Good confidence with the guitar. Lift the key of the song; the low notes were just a little too low.
Lauren Mckenzie- Interesting song choice. Good image. Your pitching was off in place. This might have been helped with a backing track.
Derunas- Pitching was good. Try and improve your diction slightly. Watch your volume; you shouted a little.
Alistair- Confident performance. Try not to sing the ‘woahs’ as backing vocals as it takes away from the lead vocal.
Demaliyo- Good potential.
Renee- Nice husky tone, might be nice to hear it used on a different song.
Darcey- Very powerful voice. Good dynamics and a good version of the song.
Beth- Resonant and clear.
Alice- Good song. Keep writing.
Candice- Nice tone. You lost the pitching slightly in the falsetto. Practicing strengthen that part of your voice.
Megan- Project your voice more and try to carry on if you make a mistake.
India- Strong performance, but try not to rush.
Emma- Little bit of work needed on your pitching.
Lydia- Nice tone. Watch your pitching in places. Even when your singing quietly make sure you sing out.
Esme and Britney- Try to keep the song lively and fun. Try some harmonies.
Kirsty Davis- Nice work!
Lauren- Good voice and good take on the song. Work on slowing your vibrato. Try not to rush; take your time.
Rachael- A little of key.

Jessie and Danni- More arrangement and harmonies required.
Elisha- You seemed a little bored?
Freya- Lovely song. Well written.
Isabella- More control needed on your pitching.
Laser Girl Diana- Couldn’t quite work out the progression?
Amanda- Nice voice and good harmonies.
Hannah- Good control. Good dynamics.
Embrace- Could see the amount of work you have put in.
Amy- Great style!
Abbie- Good delivery.
Ellie- Possibly nervous. Weren’t quite convinced by the performance.
Yassi- Technically emotionally robust. Great delivery of a nice song.
Millie- A few tuning issues.
Alice- Too much emphasis on technique. Not enough on style.
Annie- It seemed like you were really nervous. Try to relax a little.
Sweet Synergy- Liked this, nice harmonies and a good arrangement.
Nicole- Nice delivery.
