Zenelle-Renae Chronicle – Strong projection but you could have been even more powerful if you got closer to the mic so look to work on your mic control to be even better. Great voice on the high notes. The song choice was perhaps a little mature for you.
Kia Hayward – Interesting song choice and arrangement. Cute performance, the ukulele added to the performance to make it individual and fresh. Try and work on the dynamics - pausing and taking the song velocity down to have more impact when you drive the chorus back in.
Ragan Price – Liked that you made the song your own. The beats coming in after the acoustic intro worked well – you could have even kept it back a little more. The backing track beats could have varied a bit more as they became quite repetitive. But overall as an idea the performance worked really well although it felt like it was missing the “wow” moment.
Leah Gooden – The girl’s got rhythm. You look like a star and have natural grace on the stage. The vocals are on point! Make sure you focus on giving eye contact to the audience throughout.
Charlie – Try not to force the vocal and lose your control. Keep the vocal control and you are a very contemporary and entertaining act with bags of potential. Great tone.
Nicola Jade – It was probably too big a stage for you today along with your bad throat. Well done for carrying on nonetheless. More stage presence needed to take your performance to the next level.
Sam Ward – Look to use that stage more and focus on engaging the audience more. More confidene is needed from you now! The song choice is a very popular one which you struggled to control. Work on your projection and range with a good vocal coach who will help you develop to be even better.
Tai – Lovely original song. A bit more live performance experience will assist you in learning how to work the audience more with it more. Little pauses, phrasing and expression will show the song off to its best potential as it currently lacks the dynamics to make it really interesting.
The Vessels – Although it was a poor start it began to flourish with some clever harmonies and vocal backing. Tighten up the intro for impact as you boys have massive potential. Tight vocal harmonies. Very good – keep up the good work guys.
Lola Young – You’re a natural performer. Very good. Liked your intensity and passion. Now your song needs a hook to make it really catchy and have potential.
India May – What a sensitive performance which embraced every emotion that the song had to convey. Great control – the best we’ve seen from India by a country mile! Loved the vocal licks and runs along with taking the mic off the stand - you brought your A game today. Watch your pronunciation on some of the words. Great image. Definite star quality.
Caitlin Smith - Good vocals but you needed to play with the song and use more dynamics to make it more interesting. It was all a little safe and you needed to commit and throw yourself into the performance more. Good stage presence.
Amber Silver – There was a lot of passion in the song which is well structured but it’s still a little rough and maybe hard for people to want to relate to. The song did demonstrate your vocal very well! Watch the descending notes in the chorus.
Katy Virgoe – Good start. Best original song of the day. I liked the quicker tempo on the chorus but felt the message of the song got lost so work on making that clearer.
Abbey – Good performance. Lovely singing but there wasn’t any noticeable difference to the original - you need to start finding your own voice as you are good enough.
Maria Rose – Good performance. Another well-structured song. Not sure the message of the song will be one people would want to relate to - it’s quite serious! Also look to include hook to make the song catchier!
Catrina – You made the cover your own. Remember to perform the moment you hit the stage -you need to commit more to the performance as your music is great! You need to rehearse and home in on commanding the whole of the stage as the performance was way too static! Great track, although I think it was in the wrong key = the key of the song is very important.
Against The Tides – Nice to see a duet both playing guitars. Tight harmonies, just make sure those harmonies are louder and don’t get drowned out!
Shannon Borawski – One of the best vocals of the show. Great control and range. Liked you slowed the original down and made it your own. Excellent choice of song.
Tom Auton – Guitar work was one of the best of the day. Lyrics of the song are clever and engaging. Not sure it left me with a vocal hook in my head though so work on trying to incorporate a catchy chorus. Good performance, would have liked to see more intensity. Looks like a rock star! Very polished performance.
Leonne Sullivan – The backing music was cool, although where was the movement to go with the rhythm of the music! You could have performed more as you have a lovely controlled vocal. Remember to smile, the end in particular let you down. Perform until the end! Work on your image as an artist.
Dana – You have controlled vocals although commit to the emotion of the song more. Make us want to believe your heart is breaking! You didn’t convey that emotion.
Holly Davies – Your diction is very strong and I like the way you climb out of the notes. Watch your mic control as you are miles from the mic and with better mic control your projection would have been even better! Good to see you made the song your own and you smiled throughout. Great arrangement.
Ellie Bindman – Try and relax, it looks like you are trying too hard. Get that mic right near your mouth throughout to keep the projection consistent. Unfortunately the song has been covered so much this competition it is no longer interesting! Try and go for a less obvious song choice next time.
Bob Baker – Well done - despite the declining mic you continued to flow and set a good tempo to your song. Good performance, very professional. Great musicianship on the guitar.
Abi Hudson – Good connection to the song with superb control. Good song choice and you sung from the heart! Good performance and great stage presence. Lovely tone and range.
Finlay Frost – Could see a lot of preparation went into the performance with the image and props. Vocally you seemed to rush and it made the diction hard to follow at times. The song was also a little repetitive and lost the initial interest gained. Interesting performance and voice. Work on your pitching.
Maisie Ma’e – Good song choice but you need to develop the vocals in terms of timing and projection which a good vocal coach will be able to assist you with. Mic control needs to improve also too - often it wondered away from your mouth which affected projection levels. Don’t fear the top notes!
Vimbai – Great look - your hair straight away gets your attention! Vocally make sure you don’t waiver off the notes as you have the projection. You need a bit more control on the top notes.
Lauren Walton – Good performance. Great piano playing but rehearse so you can engage with the audience more. Mic wise ensure the mic is closer to the mouth to complete an entertaining enjoyable performance.
